Q&A with the Rocky Mountain Laser Clinic

Q: I know that electrolysis has been around for a couple of decades. With all of the technological upgrades made in recent times, is it more effective now than it used to be?

A: Electrolysis is still in use today and its protocols have greatly improved since its conception. It is the only process that is universally approved by the FDA as permanent hair removal. The best part is that it’s effective on light and dark hair as well as all skin tones. Other techniques, like lasers do not have that same advantage.

Electrolysis is found to be useful for white-skinned gray haired individuals also, who are poor candidates for the laser technique. Electrolysis is the most widely acclaimed form of permanent hair removal.

Q: How do I know if I’m a candidate for electrolysis over laser hair removal?

A: Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal treatment on the market. Other treatments, even laser, cannot claim to be permanent. One of the considerations the medical estheticians at Rocky Mountain Laser Clinic agree is the color of your hair and skin. Hair grows on the body for several reasons including, genetics, hormones and hormonal changes and changes to the endocrine system.

Laser hair removal works best on those who are fair skinned with dark hair. This procedure doesn’t work on blonde hair or those with dark skin unless there has been a successful patch test done.

Q: I am interested in getting a hair removal procedure done on my upper lip. I have looked around and am so confused with all the different types of lasers available. How do I know which one is best for me?

A: At The Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics, we under stand that not all patients are the same. Different people have different needs and that is why we use a variety of lasers for hair removal treatments. Each laser has different attributes that make it ideal for different hair colors and areas of the body. With this available selection, our patients are ensured a satisfactory, hair-free result.
